A very interesting article on 'Khat'.

Made me think about Betel Nut chewing in Papua New Guinea where I worked for some time. Also, the chewing habit of Indians with their habitual chewing of 'Paan'. I came across this habit in Bombay many years ago when visiting family there (my wife is Indian)

Paan is basically a traditional Indian preparation used as a mouth freshener and digestive. It is usually made up of betel leaf, Slaked Lime Paste, Katha (Acacia Plant’s bark, Supari (Areca nut), , Cardamom, coconut, sugar, fennel, saffron, and quite often, tobacco, spices-to-taste, and even silver foil. The ingredients are placed on a Betel leaf which is then rolled up and placed into the mouth.

Simon - you may have given me another story (or maybe you can take this further!

By the way, thank you for choosing to follow me. I have reciprocated.

I hope that we can both continue to write about things that interest; inspire; and bring a touch of happiness into the lives of others.

Maybe we can share each others stories with friends and colleagues.

May your day be 'just right' for you, and I hope that you will continue to write inspirational and helpful stories.

All the best to you and yours,

Fred

PS: Here's the 'Khat' joke:

My wife's name is 'Khatija' !!
