What is Easter all about?:

We’ve come to see Easter as Chocolate Eggs and Chocolate Bunnies, and
most of us have forgotten (or don’t know) the Easter Story in The Bible.
The nearest we get to a Holy-Easter is the sale of Hot Cross Buns.

IS THIS CROSS THE CROSS OF CHRIST OR JUST A NICELY-MARKED BUN? *Photo by John Cutting on Unsplash

The Cross of Christ:

The Cross of Calvary is is about ‘The Resurrection of Jesus’, following his death on a cross on Calvary’s hill. It is central to Christian belief, and it’s about ‘renewal; new life; the conquering of evil … victory … new birth!
(see Matt 26: 1–8 * Mark 16: 1–8 * Luke 24: 1–12 & John 20: 1–10).

I suppose that the egg … sweetly chocolatized at Easter, is the modern ‘take’ on this new-life concept … and thus becomes the modern symbol of Easter.
As for the bunnies … they are known for their ability to create new life aren’t they, so they too have become our modern Easter symbols.
