Great analysis Tim and the point you make about those people who are too ideologically rigid to admit they are wrong is so 'spot-on'.
As Kathi Connor said in her earlier response to you: "It is difficult to understand the depth of a mindset that feels no compassion or remorse."
I live in Australia, where overall, the Covid situation has been tackled differently to the US and other countries, but here too there is a noticeable undercurrent of right-wing 'superiors' who seem to be blind to society's underclasses.
Mind you, even I have an intolerance for Anti-vaxxers.
Does that make me 'one-of-that lot'? I hope not.
