I checked out your Medium home page; found this article; and it immediately reminded me of the last time i re-visited England, as well as my boyhood days as a train-spotter in England. My last visit (some 4 years ago - pre-COVID) found me in York at the National railway Museum there - and 'The Mallard' - like you I was always a fan of that fast thing!
