I've been there a few times since marrying my Indian wife Khatija.

One of our favorite places when we traveled the country a year after our wedding (which was in England) , was The Kashmir Valley.

That year - 1978 ! (yes, 1978) - there were no serious 'troubles' as there is nowadays over Kashmir, and we enjoyed a long, long taxi drive from Jammu, up through the mountain (literally through it) opening into the magnificent valley views.

We stayed on the Dal lake ... magnificent.
