I was in fact, much closer to Bougainville than you surmised - we lived and worked in the beautiful Madang. I was head of the Health Dept. in a Madang Community College - teacher-training , which was then the main thrust of my professional work. Never-the-less, we did have problems (as I mentioned previously), and we were glad to get back home (then, the UK).

I asked the 'self-publishing' question because I'm ready to post two new stories this afternoon and wondered what the difference would be if say I sent one to ILLUMINATION or WRIOTERS' BLOKKE (my two main platform) or, perhaps simply floated it out to Medium without attaching it to a publication. That was the gist of my question to you.

Coincidentally, that (new) story is about a unique experience I had in an overseas country with the local language (though not PNG!). It's going to be titled: 'The 13-letter Alphabet' ... bet you can't wait !!
